The Backdoor
Ait Ben Haddou is the quintessential Amazigh ksar, or fortified village. Crossing over a large river flood plane, walking into the village is like stepping back in time. The homes are built using rammed earth in which they pack the red clay into forms and ram it into a solid block and decorated with Amazigh symbols. High on the hillside overlooking the sparse desert valley, one can understand why the fortified town was founded there.
