The Lamaria church was built in the 9th or 10th century, and retains many of its original features. Said to be the site of the murder of a local leader, the dark interior carried a sense of mystery when I stepped inside. Bending down, I snapped a photo of the lit prayer candle against the backdrop of the image of Jesus in the Orthodox style.
