Marrakech is the New York City of Morocco: a center for the arts, culture, and technology. The old city is simply chaos in the best ways. Motorbikes fill the air with smoke from their two stroke engines, vendors shout the qualities of their products, and people fill the tiny, ancient streets. The terrace is therefore an essential part of life in Marrakech. A peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of the city, many are filled with plants to bring some green to the city life. I snapped this photo from the terrace of the riad I was staying at in Marrakech, with palm trees from another riad’s courtyard shooting up toward the sun.
